I am a public and primary health nurse in rural BC I am forced to use three EMR systems and two booking systems! I try my best not to duplicate chart but I know if I don’t make a note the next provider won’t have a good picture of the care that was provided, this leads to missed information or my patient retelling the story once again. This has lead to massive amount of workload for me which ultimately results de-serving the community since I then can only see a certain amount of patients. Myself and other nurses have voiced our concerns to the employer and have been told this is the provincial standard or you provide episodic care therefore the MRP or other members of the care team do not need to see your charting.
