I am a family physician in Abbotsford, BC. I have been growing my practice over the past year and I also accept referrals for women’s health. Every single day in my practice, I am required to use my EMR and Careconnect at a minimum to try to piece together history including age-related screening, imaging, specialist consultations and lab work. Often times, I am required to log into other imaging platforms as well – such as MedRay or Valley Medical Imaging. Patients expect that I have all the information easily accessible in one location and that is simply not the case. In order to get the information, I am constantly toggling windows, logging into two-step verification profiles and even then, I cannot always obtain what I am looking for. The extra time and effort it takes to provide thorough care for my patients and consultations when simply trying to access the basic paperwork trail/history is astounding.
